Ubisoft Academia and Toon Boom Animation Videogame Base Camp

July 9 to August 3, 2012

The Academia banner is overseeing four programs initiated by Ubisoft Montréal and its partners, including the Videogame Base Camp.

With the help of experts from Ubisoft Montréal and Toon Boom Animation, students will be introduced to the principles governing the production of a video game by producing a board game. Participants will work in teams using Toon Boom Animation's 2D graphic technology. The Videogame Base Camp will develop participants' leadership, creativity and logical thinking, key skills in the field of video games.
The winning team will see its game embellished and printed like a commercially available board game, and each member will receive a copy.

Target Audience

High school students aged 12 to 15, in cohorts of 20 divided into teams.

Toon Boom is co-hosting a Game Design Camp in Atlanta, Georgia in July for students aged 12-15.

"The camp will combining the expertise and prestige of SCAD with the outstanding products and faculty from Toon Boom Animation and Ubisoft, the SCAD Game Design Camp offers an educational adventure in game design for students ages 12-15. To simulate game production as approached in the professional field, teams of students are directed through industry processes, in order to construct a board game from start to finish. Students discover creative methods via brainstorming, interactive practice and teamwork. After this weeklong camp, students gain a familiarity with game design software, 2-D technology, and specialized equipment used in the game design industry."

The camp will be held at the SCAD Digital Media Center.

Citrus Cel Animation Film Festival

Toon Boom will be at Citrus Cel Animation Film Festival in April
Two big events relating to Toon Boom are the screening of animated movie Zarafa and the Mark Simon Storyboard Pro workshop.

Citrus Cel begins with the opening night feature and Florida premiere of the animated feture ZARAFA.
Zarafa was made using Toon Boom Harmony and was produced by Prima Linea Productions and Chaocorps and distributed by Pathe. Zarafa is a beautiful, hand-drawn feature by writer/director Remi Bezançon (The First Day of the Rest of Your Life) and animator Jean-Christophe Lie.
