Born in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil in the 70's, Claudio Martins has always liked to draw since is childhood, which led him to practice and become interested in animation. After working in an advertising agency and production, he decided to delve into animation. Claudio took a course in basic animation using light table, and turned to Flash animation in a production. He also learnt 3D animation. But his heart stayed with 2D. Claudio decided to try the Toon Boom products and felt inspired to create a digital art school focusing on animation. In 2007, he started a 2D animation course and has now added a 3D animation programme.
10 years
Being able to teach many people what animation is and how it is created. And seeing a young person learn and get employed, knowing that you had something to do with it. Bringing animation professionals to share on their experience and inspire all students. This is highly gratifying. And I am currently working on a series of animated vignettes on environmental awareness that we want to produce in 2010/2011
Students will learn through classroom teachers (live classes) each week, the fundamentals of animation used in the Toon Boom software. The course is divided into 3 modules with a total duration of 9 months, where students can see beyond the web meetings, ask questions online with the teacher, do homework and exams, send the final evaluation of each module for the creation of demo reel corrected and annotated by Andrew Gordon of Pixar.
Currently we teach 2D using Toon Boom Animate and Animate Pro in order to cover all aspects of professional animation production. Now we teach both in our online courses.
Usually we have 15-20 students and the average is 8-10 students per class online. Usually students are 20-30 years old. In April 2010, we will launch the Toon Boom Online course in Spanish and English.
No. We also use paper, Maya, Deskstatic (for annotations)

Each software is for different techniques. The 2D Animation class uses Toon Boom while the 3D Animation class uses Maya. Soon, we plan to offer a class that will combine both programs.
Inside the classroom, they create a short animation in parallel to learning.
Just five?
Very fast. After 2 lessons all students can do a simple animation with colors and great movements.
We like the products a lot.
In a class of 10, more than half will find a job while the rest will start a studio or partner to create their projects. This depends more on the students.
In the Manaus region, there are video producers, advertising agencies and animation studios. In addition to advertising, these studios are now beginning to produce animation series and short films.
We currently use 3 Macs, 14 PCs, all with Wacom tablets.
