Michael Brady was born on 11 November 1986 in Chelmsford, Essex. After completing his secondary education at Colchester Royal Grammar School, he moved to Bournemouth to pursue his long-held ambition to study animation. He gained a place on the highly regarded BA Animation Production course at the Arts Institute at Bournemouth, graduating in June 2009 with First Class Honours. In his final year Michael successfully pitched and produced his film ‘Clockwork Nights’ – a light hearted whimsical tale featuring his own original characters. He is available for full or part-time employment and will also work to commission. Michael is easily spotted in a crowd, due to his trademark hats and collection of brightly coloured Hawaiian shirts!
Professionally, 8 months. But prior to that 4 years of study at university.
It sounds cliché, but I was always up early to watch cartoons at the weekend when I was a child and wanted to make my own stories some day. I managed to find a book on animation in my local library and was introduced to the process behind the scenes!
We use Toon Boom Animate Pro for the scanning and colouring of 2D graduation films.

No. I also used Monkeyjam software to for pencil tests, and photo editing software to composite backgrounds.
I find it useful to pencil test my animation quickly via a webcam, and using a graphic package allows me to adjust and correct my backgrounds before importing them into Animate Pro.
I enjoy creating short films, but would eventually like to work in feature animation or television animation.

I find the repaint brush and the versatile scanning and vectorizing options have allowed me to create and colour animation quickly and confidently whilst retaining the spirit of the original pencil drawings.
I was initially daunted by the wide range of features, but a few weeks into production and following tutorials for the desired effects, using Animate Pro’s hand drawn animation feature began to come naturally.
After using it in university I knew Toon Boom was going to be an essential part of my future career and, having recently graduated understood it would be invaluable in gearing me up for professional work. I have begun working my way through the digital puppet tutorials to continue developing my skills.
I would like to work in 2D feature animation I would also like to eventually develop concepts for 2D television animation.
