Sergio A. Rosa, 28, is a 3D animator based in El Salvador. He's also addicted to screenwriting, and moviemaking in general. Sergio is also “animating for a dream” at DO Studio, a small 3D animation production studio.
His short film Atormentada won first place in the Animated Short Films category in the Icaro Film Festival (the most important film festival in Central America).

Professionally, for 3 years.
I won first place in the animation category of the Central American Icaro Film Festival 2009 with the short film Atormentada, a film I wrote and directed.
The program is open enough to allow me storyboard pretty much everything from short films to commercial projects, so I use it to storyboard all those.
History with Storyboard Pro
I only use Toon Boom Storyboard Pro
After the script and shot list is approved, I will begin working on the storyboard with Storyboard Pro. If by that time I have audio tracks for the project I will import them as well so that I can edit my storyboard according to the audio. Since it’s a storyboard for animation I will include as many “key” beats as possible, especially if I’m working with the audio files as well. If I’m working on a short film, I export my storyboard as an EDL file so that I can use it in Premiere Pro and make any editorial choices before I start animating.
Camera moves and the ability to animate elements to simulate movement are great.
Yes, big time.
I haven’t used many storyboarding apps.

It’s definitely a great tool. Even today, some people overlook the importance of creating a storyboard, and also an animatic. Toon Boom Storyboard Pro can prove to be a real timesaver during the whole production if you take advantage of the toolset it offers.
